Stephanie is the co-owner/co-founder and business manager at Skye Medical.
She’s originally from Hartlepool, a small town in the northeast of England – but has lived in Oxford and Scotland before moving to Western Australia in 2015.
Steph helped Dr MacKinnon with finding the perfect location for setting up Skye Medical Armadale and was hands on with the practice from the moment that keys were received.
She came up with the plans for a temporary renovation and dedicated her weekends to making those plans a reality.
Eventually these temporary plans gave way to more permeant plans with the addition of an extension and subsequent fit out to the new and old buildings.
Although she has been working in the background since the practice opened in 2016, as the practice has grown, she’s stepped into the practice on a full-time basis.
She’s worked in various finance and management roles during her career and has worked across a variety of industries.
She has worked with charities in both UK and Australia dealing with homelessness, social housing, aged care and residential care for people with dementia and maintains that working to help the local community has always been the most rewarding.
Steph has also worked in the hospitality industry, involved with finance and daily hotel management for a large hotel chain.
And immediately before emigrating to Australia, she was privileged to work in TV production – working alongside Peter Capaldi, Robbie Coltrane and Robson Green.
In 2021, Stephanie was delighted to learn that her colleagues had nominated her as Australian Association of Practice Managers (AAPM) WA Practice Manager of the Year.
She was very humbled and shocked to later be announced as the state winner for 2021.
Steph is a proud member of AAPM to date and ensures that she stays as current as possible in her role as well as trying to be a voice for her profession and for primary care.
Outside of work, Stephanie has two small children that keep her very busy! She loves music and (child care permitting) you’ll find her at music concerns and theatre shows or drinking wine and watching films from the 80’s.
